It’s that time of year again… “The new Year”! The time of year when the gyms are overcrowded, we stock up on cute New Year agendas, the phrase “new year new me is said often” and we are visionaries at vision board parties!!! I can recall my first vision board party many years ago. I was a plus one on my girlfriend’s invite… (always the plus one and not the invitee :):)… Side note- I was a plus one when I met my husband and then I became his Plus one lol…
The host read a scripture from the bible prior to the start of creating our vision boards…
Habakkuk 2:2 -And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Habakkuk 2:3- For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
After the scripture was read, we began creating boards adorned by pictures from magazines and words written or pasted on the boards to represent the vision for the New Year. Once my board was completed I began to wonder if what I had was more of a dream than it was a vision. I had a picture of a couple boarding a private plane which represented my husband and I. I also cut out the names from the magazine articles of couture designers, such as Chanel, Givenchy, YSL, Dior etc, to represent my New Year wardrobe. I must be honest and say even though I did as the scripture said and wrote down my vision I didn’t put much thought aka faith into my vision. I honestly didn’t know how we were going to afford a private plane flight or flood my wardrobe with couture considering we were newlyweds, had a new baby, and my husband was starting a new business. However, God saw beyond my vision. I did as he said and it surely did come…
We took our first private flight…
That year I caught some of the biggest sales on designer pieces by being at the right place at the right time…
Over the years my vision board has matured and by that I mean in my earlier years my vision board were more dreams than vision. There is a difference between a dream and a vision. One example of this is a conversation I overheard between two individuals. One person was explaining her vision of someone putting a curse on her husband. Yes i said it “a curse”. When the other individual asked the person was this a dream, She responded “no this is my vision, I saw it in my vision not a dream”. By her response I got to understand that if it was a dream she felt as there is a likeliness that it would not happen and she probably would have not appeared so disturbed in her conversation. However if its a vision its more real. I get it!!! Dreams live in a fantasy world where visions bring the fantasy to you. In addition, there is thought and faith in vision where as in dreams your imagination can run wild. The lady in the aforementioned conversation I am sure did not fantasize about someone putting a curse on her husband. My guess is that she called it a vision because of her thoughts, her knowledge and her beliefs.
Early I mentioned my lack of faith in my first vision board however it came to be.. Thats because my belief is not in whats written on a piece of cardboard or in images. My belief is in God whom through all things are possible. I just had to write it down and make it plain…
For the new Year lets be Visionaries instead of Dreamers. Write your visions down thru words or images and pray on it…

Once again this has motivated me and encouraged me. I had no interest in a vision board because I always wondered if it was a fad and I don’t usually follow fads, But the scripture behind it gave me chills and I’m on it. Thx again Marsha!
Great post!!
